About Dog Assist

Dog Assist is a Romanian organization based in Cluj-Napoca providing animal-assisted services (with therapy dogs and alpacas) for neurodivergent children, at-risk teenagers, parents, and educators, with the mission that no child is left behind for financial reasons. Our programs take place in educational centers, hospitals, and our own therapy clinic, and are evidence-based, developed in collaboration with universities. Our team includes social workers, therapists, dog handlers, and physiotherapists.

Role

Responsibilities

  1. Market Research & Cultural Mapping. Research giving/philanthropy culture and corporate social responsibility (CSR) practices in relevant countries or regions - including, where relevant, the intern's own country or region Identify digital fundraising platforms, donation habits, and seasonality specific to each market Document culturl differences relevant to how Dog Assist should approach fundraising and friendraising there
  2. Geographic Prioritization. Help build a simple market-scoring framework (openness, accessibility, diaspora / animal-loving community presence, online payment infrastructure) Propose 2-3 pilot markets, with reasoning, for Dog Assist's international fundraising direction
  3. Initial International Outreach. Identify companies, foundations, and potential supporter communities (expats, diaspora, dog/animal lovers) in the prioritized markets Initiate first contact (email, LinkedIn, social media), culturally and linguistically adapted Populate the existing CRM with the contacts and information gathered
  4. Digital Friendraising. Help build an online community of international supporters through culturally adapted content and messaging Support crowdfunding / peer-to-peer campaigns aimed at international audiences Work with the marketing team to adapt Dog Assist's key messages for international audiences, keeping the organization's tone - warm and credible, free of pity-based storytelling or unrealistic therapeutic promises
  5. Support to the Fundraising & Partnerships Team. Support the local team with research, material preparation, and translation/adaptation of messages Take part in internal alignment and strategy meetingsĀ 
  6. Documentation & Handover. Document the research methodology and findings in a simple market-opening playbook, per country/region explored - a deliverable that stays with the team after the internship ends Success Indicators (indicative) Number of markets/countries researched and documented Clarity and usefulness of the final market playbook delivered Number of international contacts initiated (companies / foundations / communities) Contribution to at least one digital friend-raising campaign
