The project aims to contribute to SDG #8 by enhancing the capacity of local communities to build a promote sustainable local tourism activities that bring revenue and boost employavility in the region.

By 2030, devise and implement policies to promote sustainable tourism that creates jobs and promotes local culture and products

Role

Project Activities

Week 1
Run an analysis on the local and national reality regarding tourism, its main deficiencies and strenges.
Determine outcome measurement method and materials.
Map out target audience (tourists and local business owners).
Interviewing random locals to understand more the history of the city and its legends.
Onboarding space with NGO and/or community representatives.
Week 2
Map out potential "undiscovered touristic places" where tourists can be promoted or boosted.
Plan and deliver a small local attraction campaign to promote the workshops and activities to be run in week 3 and 4. You can use mouth to mouth promotion and visit local businesses to directly invite people.
Run an assessment to understand what type of education the community needs to start boosting sustainable tourism in the area.
Run an assessment to determine why these places are not popular among tourists or are not put in value by the locals.
Visits to local realities, rather than the stereotypical tourist sights.
Week 3
Workshop: Marketing for beginners. Branding for local business & attraction campaigns.
Workshop: Basic of photography.
Workshops: Creating a strategy for your local business.
Workshop: What is sustainable tourism and how can it change my community reality?
Week 4
Build the final project report and present it to AIESEC members and partner representatives.
Collect data from project beneficiaries (you can use surveys, interviews, focus groups, etc.)
Analyze data to determinate outcome results.
