The project aims to contribute to SDG #4.7 by providing and opening spaces for inclusive and equitable quality education for children from disadvantaged villages. We focus on fostering intercultural understanding and breaking down language barriers by offering children access to educational and cultural activities, as volunteers visit multiple villages during the project duration

Role

Project Activities

Week 1
Participants continous listening to materials given regarding the projec's technical details. In this session participant also disect the project's main goals and objectives into easily understandable chunks. Participant will delve into the UN Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) That becomes the basis for social project
Participants finalize the implementation plan and prepare simple monitoring and evaluation tools to measure the impact of the project. In this session, participants design basic observation sheets, reflection questions, or feedback forms that will help capture beneficiaries’ engagement and learning experiences during the activities. Participants also review the roles and responsibilities of each team before the project implementation begins.
Participants work collaboratively in teams to develop a structured implementation plan for the project sessions that will be conducted during village visits. In this workshop, participants design interactive educational and cultural activities such as games, storytelling sessions, and cultural sharing activities. Participants also identify and prepare the materials and tools needed to support these activities to ensure the sessions are engaging and suitable for the beneficiaries.
Participants attend an onboarding and discussion session with partner representatives such as teachers or community coordinators to better understand the background of the targeted villages and the characteristics of the beneficiaries. In this session, participants explore the local educational environment and discuss the expected outcomes of the Happy Bus Project. Participants then conduct a brainstorming session to generate ideas for educational and cultural activities that can foster intercultural understanding and meaningful learning experiences for children.
Participants receive briefings covering the project's technical details: what to expect (such as OP Takers conditoon, work schedule, beneficiary characteristics, targeted outcomes, etc.), alignment of expectations between the organizing committee and participants, team assignments, introduction to the participant work dashboard, as well as initial stages of research and idea generation.
Week 2
Volunteers facilitate creative activities such as making simple cultural crafts inspired by different countries. Students work in groups to create artworks while learning about cultural symbols, traditions, or celebrations from around the world. During the session, volunteers introduce simple vocabulary related to the activity and encourage students to express their ideas and creativity.
Volunteers organize a cultural exploration day where students learn about different countries through mini activity stations. Each station represents a country and includes small activities such as cultural trivia, traditional games, drawing cultural symbols, or storytelling about traditions. Students rotate between stations and interact with volunteers to learn about different cultures.
Volunteers conduct another interactive session combining language games and cultural activities. At the end of the session, volunteers gather feedback from students through simple reflection activities such as short discussions, smiley feedback cards, or simple questionnaires. Volunteers also observe student participation and engagement during the activities.
Volunteers organize an interactive cultural session where students learn traditional dances, songs, or simple games from different countries represented by the volunteers. Students are encouraged to participate actively and practice the movements or songs together in groups. The session ends with a fun group performance where students demonstrate what they have learned.
Volunteers conduct a fun language learning session where students are introduced to simple English or other foreign language words through interactive games, songs, and role-playing activities. The session also includes cultural sharing where volunteers introduce their countries through pictures, simple stories, and short discussions. Students participate in group activities that allow them to practice new words and expressions while interacting with the volunteers.
Week 3
Volunteers conduct a reflection session with the students through sharing circles, games, or simple feedback activities. Students are invited to share their favorite moments and what they learned during the project. The session concludes with a closing ceremony, appreciation for participants, and group photos.
Volunteers conduct interactive review activities with the students through fun games, quizzes, and storytelling sessions that revisit the cultural topics and language expressions learned during the previous weeks. Students participate in group discussions and small challenges related to different cultures that have been introduced during the program.
Students work together with volunteers to prepare performances or creative presentations for the Final Cultural Day. Groups practice cultural dances, songs, storytelling, or creative performances inspired by the cultural activities they experienced during the project.
Volunteers facilitate rehearsal sessions for the students’ cultural performances and presentations. Students finalize their group performances, artworks, or storytelling activities. Volunteers provide guidance and support to help students improve their confidence and teamwork.
The Final Cultural Day is organized as a celebration event where students present the cultural performances and activities they have prepared. Students showcase dances, songs, storytelling sessions, or cultural crafts inspired by the cultures they explored during the project. Volunteers also share cultural presentations and interactive activities with the students, creating a festive and collaborative environment.
Week 4
Participants learn how to foster and sustain the impact they have created by reviewing and documenting all the outputs generated throughout their engagement with beneficiaries. This includes both tangible outcomes and intangible impacts, such as personal growth, behavioral change, or knowledge gained. The session encourages participants to reflect deeply and begin organizing their insights in preparation for the formal impact report.
In this session, participants will present their final reports summarizing the entire project. They will reflect on and report the impact of their journey, how they have influenced the beneficiaries, OP Takers, and local communities, as well as how these groups have, in turn, impacted them. Participants will also provide feedback and an overall evaluation of the project, highlighting key moments of growth and insight. To close the session, participants and the organizing committee will exchange and read the “sugar cubes” personal notes of appreciation written for one another.
Each participant presents their individual Impact Report, covering the project framework, activities conducted, outputs achieved, challenges faced, lessons learned, and personal reflection on working with beneficiaries. Presentations are delivered in front of the OP Taker’s representative and the beneficiaries. After the session, participants regroup with their project teams for a final gathering and documentation.
A closing feast to celebrate the success and accomplishments achieved throughout the project. Participants and project organizers share final stories, reflections, and farewells. The session includes a recognition segment to appreciate the most dedicated and joyful participants with rewards. Departure support and logistical information will also be provided. This moment allows participants to emotionally conclude their journey and recognize the personal growth they’ve experienced.
Participants conclude the execution phase with a celebratory outing to explore various tourism sites across Malang City. This session serves as a moment of relaxation, reflection, and bonding after weeks of hard work. During the trip, participants will also receive rewards and recognition for outstanding contributions such as Best Mentor awards and view appreciation videos prepared by the beneficiaries.
